Summer '21 Dream Studio Classes
The Director’s Circle provides a space for symposium style discussions to occur amongst colleagues, which will encourage reflective conversations about approaching the work; and also exchange helpful tips with one another to navigate through the artistic process.
Audition 101 workshop will help actors improve their audition technique and acting for self-taped and in-person auditions for theatre, television, and film. Actors will work towards more professional and stronger performances. Original scripts from film and television projects will be used in class as learning tools in the simulated audition exercises.
Acting for the Camera will offer a practical approach to understanding the skills needed to be a successful film and television actor. Topics to be covered include understanding set terminology, hitting marks, knowing different camera lenses and how to adjust your performance for each one, understanding the use of lighting, and an actors relationship to director, DP and script supervisor.
Playwriting course will be an active learning one where the ideas, strategies, and principles, won’t just be talked about, but done in real time. It is the intention of this course to help the developing playwright to define their voice and perspective so that the words they write are the words they feel, and can be felt by those it's been written for.
Script Analysis will investigate the structure of the play-text (or script) itself. We will investigate what the playwright was trying to do. We will investigate the actual structure of the events that happen in the play. We are going to compose a list of events (or "actions") that lead to the conclusion of a particular text.
Youth Theater* learn all of the basics of theater in a fun environment where devising works with a focus on empathy and heart are at the center of the work.
*Note that NDD will be sponsoring four youth ages 13-17 for the Youth Theater.
Our session begins JULY 5-30th with most classes meeting twice a week.
