No one is turned away due to lack of funds and all proceeds go to local non-profit organizations working to end mass incarceration as well as those fighting for criminal justice reform.
No Dream Deferred, a community anchored performing arts company, is producing the convening with key sponsorship provided by Tulane University’s Mellon Graduate Program in Community-Engaged Scholarship, Vera Institute of Justice New Orleans, and Rising Foundations.
Additional programmatic support is being provided by partnerships with numerous local organizations, in a genuine effort to foster dialogue about prison reform and ending the mass incarceration of black and brown people in the United States. We will examine how art making can serve as a catalyst for community organizing and action through, facilitated conversations, play readings, shared meals and guest lectures.
